You can definitely use a Metric Halo interface as your monitor controller. Your Pro Tools system can't stream audio directly to our hardware, so you would need to connect the analog or (preferably) digital outputs of your current interface into our interface. There are several tutorials here, but be sure to take a look at this one.
"Hardware" is a category, not a forum so you can't post there.

None of our interfaces have cooling fans.
If you run the unit as a standalone monitor controller you will only have volume control from the front panel and will have to use a LIO-8 or ULN-8; you will not be able to switch input or output paths or use a physical level controller like the Contour Shuttle. If you connect the unit Firewire, you can use a USB HID controller to change levels, and will be able to switch your routing. By inserting the ConsoleConnect plug-in in your sessions you can automatically recall your monitor settings.
Our software does not offer 5.1 decoding at this time, but the monitor controller will handle up to eight channels of level control. You will need to do any surround decoding from within Pro Tools.
