Hi all,

Mindblown new guy here trying to figure out how to do the following... hoping you can help me out. This can't be that hard and yet I'm struggling.

- Using Logic 9. I have never had to use analog outs before and so have nothing set up in the Logic mixer except output 1-2.
- Using Basic ULN8 Template
- Want to send two extra sets of can mixes to my live room from mix room. I have custom panels in the wall of each room that are connected so I can have the mix room sealed off from the live room during recording. The live room headphones are attached to line outs 1-2 and 3-4 on the back of the unit and directly into the wall panel.
- I want separate volume control in the mixer for my monitors and both sets of headphones.
- Right now I can't figure out if there's a way to separate the monitor volume from the analog 1-2 volume somehow. I had Redco make a line out snake with 2 headphone outs and 4 XLRs. The headphone outs are on 1-2 and 3-4. Think maybe I've just made a cable design error, but wonder if I can somehow manipulate the routing in the Daw and MIO to make it work.

Thanks in advance for any help!

So, the TRS jacks on the back panel are mults of analog out 1+2. If you are using those for your monitors, then you can't have a different level or mix for the headphones on channel 1+2.

You could use the front-panel headphone out for one set of headphones, or you could move your tracking room headphones onto Outputs 3+4, and 5+6.

I think that addresses what you are experiencing. If not, please follow up here or open a ticket with support so we can help you get your setup working...

Is it possible to use the inserts as a headphone out instead and somehow set up a bus routing to them?

You mean the direct outs for the send/return? If so, then no -- those don't have DACs; they are wired to the inputs pre-ADC in the analog domain.

Is it possible to change the output that the front panel monitor volume knob controls?

Yes. If you configure the Monitor Controller in the MIO Software, that will program the monitor knob on the front panel to control the I/O as specified in the Monitor Controller configuration.
