Hi there.

First post Razz

I started mixing in mono with a single monitor and I get good results, but I can't seem to figure out how to get a stereo signal to the monitor. I only get mid and left signal.

In monitor control I set source to Daw 1 and Daw 2 and the path to a mono bus which defaults to Left, then I send that to output Monitor L.

This receives the middle and left side of the mix but nothing from the right.

Is there a way to send the stereo signal to a mono output via Monitor L so that I can also hear what is panned hard right?

I'm sure there is, but I can't get my head around it Confused

Thanks for your help

You'll need to use a bus in the mixer for this (or maybe the mono button in the MC will do it too; I'm not 100% sure about that.)

But make a mono bus in the mixer, and then two strips (on for each DAW channel -- assigned to that bus. Now use that bus as the source in the MC and you'll be able to monitor the folded down stereo from the computer...

I failed to mention that my 2D card won't arrive until next month and I am on legacy until then... Not sure if it's possible to make a mono bus in the old box.

For the time being I have figured out that I can mono the master on my DAW and still hear tracks panned right.

You could pan both DAW channels to the left in the MIO Mixer...

That being said, I'm pretty sure we supported mono busses in Legacy. I think you need to go to the matrix view and split the bus into two mono busses.

This routing worked for the legacy box. However, I have now installed the 2d upgrade and I can't figure out the routing to do the same.

I have 12 mono tracks from Logic going via I/O straight into 12 mono tracks of MIO mixer, which go to the Main bus which goes to the Analog 1/2 // Monitor L/R in the MC. Stereo is no problem. Pan right, left... everything sounds amazing.

But I cannot find a way to fold the stereo into mono. I am using the L monitor output to connect to the mono speaker. I have tried creating a mono bus in the mixer and throwing a send from the stereo main, but I still only get the tracks that are center or left. Hitting the mono button on MC doesn't change anything either.

Have been scratching my head for a few hours trying things out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are two ways to do this with 2d.

If this is just for monitoring, then use the monitor controller; it has a mono button that will fold the mix down to mont for you.

If you really need to have another mix to mono, take the mono bus that you created, and instead of putting the send on the master strip, insert it onto all the channel strips (remove it from the master strip). You can make the send strips all post-fader; that will give you the same mix in mono...

Was sending the output to only left while mono button was in... Set the output to stereo and it folds nicely.

Thanks again.
