Hi, i'm a new ULN-8 3d owner and wanted to digitise my vinyl records. I did the following: connecting the rca output of a high end dual turntable via a dap audio rca>xlr adapters with the xlr sub-d inputs (mic) analog 1+2 of the uln8 without any pre-amplification before the inputs. The gainsetting was 51.5 on the uln8. The uln8 was connected via lan with the macbook pro (MacOS 10.14.6).
Then in mioconsole 9 i loaded an miostrip insert on stereo analog 1+2 with the RIAA eq curve on number 1 of the eq (activated). The other numbers deactivated. The "to host" setting was post. Recorded in 24/96.
Is that the correct/usual method so far?
The problem is the sound gets dull when the RIAA curve kicks in (listening on beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO), compared to the regular amplified hifi sound of my lehmann phono preamplifier and compared to a cd version of the song. As if the highs were reduced.
I did this with a newer vinyl from inakustik reference sound edition, so a very highend vinyl recording.
I didn't expect that, as so many people rave about the sound quality of the uln as phono preamplifier with riaa curve. When i play music from harddisk, streaming over the uln8 or record an instrument or mic, there is absolutely no sound problem, fantastic sound on the dt770, so i don't know what to do.
Did i do anything wrong or have i forgot something?
Thanks for any advice.
Would be very cool, if there were any tutorials or video tutorials about such things with the MH 3d interfaces & mio console as guidance.
Best regards
Andreas

Thank you for the fast reply!
That means without this phono mod there is no alternative way to digitize vinyls with the uln8 than using an external preamplifier and line inputs to record it.
I use the uln8 mainly as my computer audiointerface for recording synths, guitars (front DI), mics and music production in the box. Vinyl digitizing would have been a bonus i thought could be done easy.
Are there disadvantages or any function losses with this mod that would affect my main purpose and how will it be installed? Can i deinstall it if i don't need it anymore?
What would it cost and is it only available over MH-US (shipping to US) or also MH germany, where i bought the uln?
Is the ULN-2 3d different in this regard and maybe easier for vinyls?
Thanks again for answering.
