Is there an optimal way to mix with the MIO console and DAW (logic for example) in using AU plugins and then routing out to the MIO console? Because there are plugins that I'd like to use within the DAW mixer and also possibility of outboard gear using the I/O insert in Logic. Will mixing like this have a negative impact upon the overall sound quality?

Many of our users work this way; I'd suggest watching the videos here to get more familiar with routing. This will have no effect on sound quality as long as you use Logic's latency compensation.
