You should open a ticket with support. There have been reports of audio problems (not specific to Metric Halo) in 10.8, but we have not been able to reproduce them here.

Hello,

I'm having the same problems since 10.8.0 and they persist with 10.8.1 - also using Logic 9.1.7.

I must add, though, I've had these problems with another interface (M-Audio FW1814) as well so while I hope the guys at MH can do something to fix it, I'm afraid it's not their fault and we'll have to wait for Apple to appreciate and fix this problem.

Going forward, I'm staying away from operating systems ending in a .0 or .1. This has cost me too much sleep.

just to confirm, 10.8.2 doesn't fix any of the issues I am having yet.

also seeing the crackling on input, and aggregate device is messed up again (after we just had gotten things working in Lion)
seems to be more of a apple thing, though. hoping MH is in adequate contact with the Apple engineers to get things working again, hopefully soon.

We've filed bug reports with Apple, as this is an issue in Core Audio that's out of our control.

Although I believe the error is on Apple's part, Line6 just released an update to their POD HD drivers stating "Fixes distorted audio playback on Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion." FWIW.

Another note: I just spent 2 hours tracking guitars with no problems (I hope I won't find clicks and pops in a week or so. Fortunately, they are just guide tracks for upcoming studio sessions...). Maybe I was just lucky. Maybe it's due to the fact that the buffer is set to 1024 (I monitor through MIOConsole) and this project is far from taxing the CPU like the mixing projects I first encountered these problems with.

Specs: MIO 2882 2d +DSP, OS X 10.8.2 on 2009 Macbook Pro, intel C2D, 8GB, Logic Pro 9.1.7 with newest Metric Halo firmware, software and drivers.

Update: It must have something to do with CPU load / core balancing on Apple's part. If I raise the buffer to 1024 in Logic and monitor through the MIO Console, it's almost bearable. Not reliable enough for actual use but definitely improved. This renders software instruments completely useless, though and obviously is not a satisfying solution long-term. I really wish something would move forward here.

Hi guys, same problem here... very frustrating, I have just spent the entire weekend trying to get it to work properly.

just to confirm some of the problem details - Playback is 100% fine, its only on the inputs when trying to record and monitor.

Funny thing tho, i tested my system with my old steinberg MR816 and it gave no problems whatsoever. I then downloaded older MIO drivers and it suddenly started working fine, leading me to believe that it was a metric halo driver issue... but then the next day the older driver (.214) i think started acting up in the same way

I have opened a ticket with support, lets hope they get back to me asap, i have lost far too much valuable work time already.

btw i am running a late 2011 mbp with more than adequate specs, OSX 10.8.2, metric halo ULN-2 (brand new 2d expanded)

Hi,

i got 2 metric soundcards.

uln-8 and lio 8 ..is daisychained and external clocked.

sometimes i can record without crackling noise in logic 9.1.7...then comes crackling.

i must restart in logic the core audio driver and then it works for a while.

its very frustraiting because i must every time check die audio recordings.

my buffer is set to 1024 in logic.

i got a mac pro i7 octo (2009)

i hope there is an apple an metric update soon....

Same problem here.
I can toggle the sample rate and it will work for a while.
But I can't record above 44.1 kHz.
This is driving me nuts, and I am getting paranoid of recording.
I've had my 2882 for a loong time, and never had a problem like this before.
I truly hope there's a fix out soon.
I do not want to downgrade my os.
This should just work.
I'm on mountain lion 10.8.2

havent had too much time to investigate properly but the new driver they sent me seems to have sorted it out. driver version 5.4d219 if yoou having this issue ask them to send it to you to see if it sorts out the problems.

We are currently testing a new driver that has been reported to solve this problem. Please open a ticket at http://mhsecure.com/support to request a beta version.

In addition, we are meeting with Apple representatives this week to discuss the issue with them directly.

Same here. 218 did not resolve the problem for me, 219 however does. I was recording guide tracks for a drumming session the other day so I could risk a ruined take or two and test it out. So far I haven't found any clicks or pops in the tracks recorded.

the 219 version has my system working fine at 44.1, but I am having issues with having an aggregate device at 96. are you guys able to work at 96?

So far the new beta driver has solved my problems.
Have been running a few sessions, without issues.
Also quickly tested 48, 88.2 and 96 khz, and it seems to work.

things appear good on my system now. that took two things -

one - the new driver got things sorted. very happy with that.

two - I had to make sure that I only had two interfaces on each firewire buss. I have 6 interfaces, so they are two each on 3 different firewire busses. 3 interfaces on a buss is fine at 44.1, but not kosher at 96. two interfaces per buss means I am able to rock at any sample rate and things are good.

Yes, of course. The new driver supports all of the boxes. You can use it, legacy boxes and 10.8.x.

Is the beta version you guys sent us who were initially having problems ( a few weeks back) the exact same driver as the one officially available for download on you site?
