I've got a question for anyone who owns more than one 8 channel box (ULN-8 or LIO-8). When you have two boxes hooked up, do they both show up in the same MIO mixer or not? In other words, if I want to use the MIO 80 bit mixer for summing more than 18 channels from my DAW, can I use two boxes and effectively double the number of streams into the MIO mixer? Or... do they still live separately. I have a feeling they live separately due to the DSP being physically located in each separate box. Can anyone answer this for me who actually uses two boxes?
Both boxes appear in the same mixer, but you cannot directly route audio between them; you need to physically connect them and route the audio manually.
You should watch the "Multibox Mixing and Monitoring with v.5" video on our tutorial page; I give specific examples of working with multiple boxes.
I'd like to specifically understand if getting another LIO I will have another 18 fw busses from DAW to MIO Mixer and double the processing power.. meaning now I can open like 16 mono MIO Strips (and maybe some more) at 96k if I'm not mistaken.. that means with two LIO I'll be able to have 36fw busses and at least 32 MIO Strips with some room for Character or anything
Also this happens using Aggregate device or I need to connect them using AES?
I have two firewire busses (a PCI-e SIIG fw 400 card) if that makes a difference
