Anybody know of somewhere I can get a rundown of how the routing works between the MIO Console and my DAW (Logic) ?
I've watched the tutorials on the MH site and I have recorded using simple configurations using my LIO-8.
Basically I'm trying to understand the following:
1) how is it that the main buss has routings both for input channel strips (in this context it seems to be referred to as a monitor buss sometimes in the tutorials) and also for return channels from the DAW, without creating feedback loops or delays ? Is it really two different busses both called Main, one for inputs and one for outputs ?
2) how would I monitor only what Logic is "hearing" while I am recording ?
3) how would I monitor only one buss of the inputs in the MIO without hearing anything from Logic while I am recording in Logic ?
4) if I'm playing back a mix from logic and I have mics and preamps plugged in, is there a graceful way to pull down one fader and not hear anything from those input channels while I am checking a track or edit without having to pull down all the faders ? (And if I was going to do it by pulling down faders, is it better to do it in MIO or in Logic ?)
5) how do I set up multiple monitor mixes ?
6) is there a way to mult a main monitor mix to some other buss and add in some audio from other single channels (using a channel direct out) in order to have simple "more me" monitor mixes for different musicians ?
any help would be appreciated. I don't mind doing some homework after being referred to the right place. thanks folks

After working with it and trying some experiments I'm getting a handle on this stuff. So I thought I would answer these myself as best I can in case it may be useful to others.
Could still use help on #4 and #6
1) how is it that the main buss has routings both for input channel strips (in this context it seems to be referred to as a monitor buss sometimes in the tutorials) and also for return channels from the DAW, without creating feedback loops or delays ? Is it really two different busses both called Main, one for inputs and one for outputs ?
It's really one buss; if you have your inputs assigned to the main buss and you've also got the DAW 1/2 fader up you are hearing both systems and you can have delays due to latency
2) how would I monitor only what Logic is "hearing" while I am recording ?
turn down the input channel faders in the MIO mixer (while still showing a good level on the meters) and leave the DAW 1/2 fader up, while record enabled in Logic
3) how would I monitor only one buss of the inputs in the MIO without hearing anything from Logic while I am recording in Logic ?
leave the main fader in MIO up and the DAW 1/2 fader down
4) if I'm playing back a mix from logic and I have mics and preamps plugged in, is there a graceful way to pull down one fader and not hear anything from those input channels while I am checking a track or edit without having to pull down all the faders ? (And if I was going to do it by pulling down faders, is it better to do it in MIO or in Logic ?)
still would like to figure this out. If the main fader in MIO is down I don't hear the return from Logic, and would rather not lose my monitor mix in MIO every time I need to check something in Logic without hearing the inputs.
5) how do I set up multiple monitor mixes ?
send the main mix from MIO out as the #1 monitor mix (which is multed to channels 2 and 3 in my Rane HC 6 headphone amp), add sends in the MIO plugins to new busses named for the additional monitor mixes. The send faders come up together across multiple channels when they are assigned to the same buss. The "P" button in the sends window (comes up when you click on one of the inserted sends) should not be lit; this is the pre fader setting, so that the levels in the headphone mix are independent of fader settings in the #1 monitor mix which is coming from the main buss in MIO.
6) is there a way to mult a main monitor mix to some other buss and add in some audio from other single channels (using a channel direct out) in order to have simple "more me" monitor mixes for different musicians ?
