Currently you cant assign a direct out if that output is already in use somewhere. This is kind of safe, but most of the time slows me down.
I would like to suggest a behaviour similar to Pro Tools where i can always select (and thus override other assignments) any direct out, but that the pulldown menu shows all outputs already in use with a different color, font or whatnot.
