I always have the monitor controller on top of all my apps, but it's way too big. It would be great if you could place another small button next to the "keep infront button" that will
collapse the window to simply a small volume control knob and the two small buttons "switch min/max" and "keep on top".

You can. Click the zoom (little green button) in the title bar of the MC window, and it will switch to the the MINI Monitor controller UI. This has been in the software since we shipped the MC.

This is what the mini monitor controller looks like:

index.php?t=getfile&id=149&private=0

There is also a key-command to switch between the two UI's: <command><option><control>-F
