So I am very new to recording with an interface. I have a basic knowledge of this stuff and have recorded with my 2882 a couple of times. But, I have encountered a problem today while trying to dump tracks from a tape machine into my macbook.

It seems that none of my preamps are working. I can confirm that the tape machine is passing signal and that the patch bay is routed correctly. The 2882 is just not showing any input signal.

can someone provide a link to a post that may help out? or offer some advice?

I was also getting a weird asian character warning with a stop sign. I'm not sure what I did to it.
