Hello,
While waiting for my 3d to arrive, I'm trying to understand the new MIO console.
I'm wondering if it's possible to EQ only the LCR in a 5.1 main monitoring.
It looks like it could be possible, using the "multi-mono" button on the plugins, like in Pro Tools (it allows to make differents settings on differents channels).
But clicking on Multi-mono seems to do nothing...
Is this functionality implemented ?
If not, when it will be implemented, will the behavior be similar to Protools (like a described) ?
You can do it, but it is not as integrated as it is in Pro Tools.
The multimono inserts simply strap N mono instances across your strip (N = number of channels in the strip) and it uses the same parameters for all the instances. So it works great if you want to apply the same processing to all of the channels).
If you want different EQ settings for individual channels in a strip, you can still do that, but it is more involved.
In that case you would insert a graph, and manually patch in the EQs for each channel inside the graph. Each EQ would have fully independent parameters, so if you want to have the same EQ on your LCR, you'd have to set it on the L EQ, and the copy and paste the parameters to the other channel instances. There is (currently) no linking available for this.
The PT approach is a lot like our multimono but They also have the control in the plugin header to de-link indiviidual instances and control them separately. We don't have that yet.
It sounds like this is something you need or would at least find useful, yes?

Yes absolutely.
I use that kind of stuff very often at work in Protools, filter only a Sw, or only the rears.
This possibility would definitely interest me.
By the way, I don't understand very well the difference between "multichannel" and "Muti-mono" in the MIO mixer...
In both case the setting applies to all channels, no ?
But thanks for the tip of using the graph, I'm not used to the metric halo DSP and I didn't though about that solution !
Multichannel means that the plugin is inherently multichannel (e.g. stereo). This distinction is not super important for things like EQ, but in a compressor their is a difference in processing. Multichannel uses the stereo input put for the detector and applies the same gain reduction to both channels. In multimono, the detectors are separate and the gain reduction is applied differently per channel. Both of these are valid approaches to processing; you just have to think about what you are trying to accomplish.

Ok, so it's really the same behavior as in Protools.
So yes a link/delink option in multi-mono mode is really an interesting option in my opinion, but there is really no emergency if I'm the only one interested
I can definitely use a graph plugin to achieve my goal.
I'd be more interested first by [message #86545]
(this necessity to post 300 messages to have the right to post links is a bit weird by the way...)

Yes - we will get that addressed.

We added that requirement because 99% of the links posted are spam. Spam accounts have dropped by 99% since we implemented that.
