I just can't find the solution to my problem.

I have the 2882 I/O in the 2D version.

For online skype lessons I need the following setup:

A lavalier microphone is connected to an analog input on the 2882, but is NOT intended to be sent to the speakers - only to computer/skype input.

My Yamaha speakers are attached to the analog output of the 2882.

When I e.g. Skype, everything works very well, only I always hear my own signal from the Lavalier Mic over the speakers.

So far I have solved the problem by sending the lavalier to the computer/skype input via the direct out (Firewire 1). Now I can no longer send the other signals (digital piano, DAW output, etc.) to the computer via the same Firewire-Out.

When I send my digital piano to Firewire 3/4, Skype doesn't get a signal. With a DAW, I could choose input 3/4 - unfortunately that doesn't work in Skype.

Skype therefore receives my audio signal indirectly - via the lavalier microphone, over the speakers - and not digitally.

The problem doesn't exist at all with my old M-Audio ProFire 610 audio interface. I just pull down the volume fader of the lavalier. This means that the signal is no longer on the speakers, but it arrives at Input 1&2 on the computer.

I see the problem with the MIO console that I am not allowed to mix Firewire outputs.

Firewire 1/2 are the audio inputs e.g. for Skype. So if I send the lavalier there, I can no longer send the outputs of the DAW to FW 1/2.

What am I doing wrong?

I tried different settings, with I/O Plug in, Busses and so on. Apparently i'm too stupid to find the solution...

I am grateful for any help. Thank you in advance!

You say Firewire, so you are either on Legacy or 2d (and not 3d).

Is this a legacy box, or is it 2d?

Sorry. Just saw that you said it was 2d.

For 2d you want to use a bus to send to FireWire.

There are a couple of ways to achieve this. You can use the Monitor Controller to monitor the "DAW" channels coming from Skype, and just use the bus in the mixer for sending to the Firewire (so that Skype can see all your inputs). If you take this approach, you would set your monitoring up to use the MC, and make a MC source that has the DAW channels at the source channels, and then select that as the source for the MC; you need to make sure that the main bus is not routed to Analog 1+2, and add a MC monitor path for your speakers. That would allow you to hear Skype through your speakers. Then you would mix the Lav and your Piano to the Main bus, and use the direct out on the main bus to route to FW 1+2; then Skype will get the mix of the piano and the Lav.

If you don't want to change your monitor routing, then what you would need to do is make a new Master bus to send to Skype. You would set its direct out to Firewire 1+2 and insert a send to the Skype bus on each channel you want to send to Skype. When you click on the Send on one of the channels, you would then get a small Send mixer window that allows you to set the level and pan for the channels being sent to Skype. Just mute your Lav on the main monitor bus.

Hopefully that gets you going. If you need more help, please get in touch with support.

Oh; you can send any combo of inputs to the Skype bus (Lav, DAW, other physical inputs)...
