Hi there!

I want to connect 2 ULN-8 3d via MHlink to a new Macbook Pro 16" 2021, which has thunderbolt 4 connectors. I tried a anker USB-C to gigabit ethernet adapter. Both units were detected, but i get crackles when playing back a simple session in logic pro.
What is the correct way to do it:
#1 Do i have to / can I use the adapter that apples sells: BELKIN usb-c to gigabit ethernet adapter - which is officially compatible with 16" macbook pros - OR
#2 do i have to get an adapter from TB3 to TB2 and then from TB2 to ethernet (both apple adapters)? Could this solve the crackling issue, or is this something completely different? thanks

The best approach is #2; the second best approach is a TB3 dock with PCIe Ethernet.

USB Ethernet on M1/Monetrey seems to be a bit of a problem these days because the Apple USB Ethernet driver is very low performance (and when we filed a bug about this, we were told that they don't consider performance for those devices to be particularly important) and the silicon vendors don't seem to have provided new, up-to-date custom drivers yet.

thanks, I tried this with the apple adapters. it's a bit better, but crackles didn´t completely disappear, from time to time it's still there... 🤷‍♂️

People have reported that sometimes they need to delete the NIC from the Network Control Panel and then add it back and that that clears out something that is causing problems with the OS.

If you continue having issues, please open a support ticket https://mhsecure.com/support

@ arno, I had simliar issues when daisychaining my ULN8 and LIO8 with MHLink and a TB-USB/ Ethernet Hub.
A friend of mine was telling me that TB / Ethernet is a well known issue with Apple M1 and he recommended using a USB-C 3.1 Hub instead of a TB hub or adapter
I followed his advise and then bought a so called "Plugable UD-CAM" . This combination works flawlessly between my MBP M1 and the daisychained LIO/ ULN, find here: plugable.com/products/ud-cam/
