Hi,

I'm having lots of trouble trying to set this up properly.

My setup is using two 2882 (2D Expanded) boxes. Box #1 is connected to MacBookPro via Firewire. Box #2 is connected to Box #1 via ADAT.

The way it's being setup:

16 Channel Input (multi-track)
16 Channel Sum Out (4 x mono, & 6 x stereo stems)

As I'm using Logic, and Aggregate Device is not great for this, I figured it'd be simplest to get extra 8 IN/OUT channels via ADAT. However, it's simply not working. I can't work out whether it's something I'm doing wrong in MIO (there's no specific instructions for setting up ADAT in/out), or if I've a technical fault.

I can get Box #1 to work fine routing 8 IN/OUT to Logic via FW.

For Box #2 - it's connected via two ADAT cables (out to in, in to out). However, using MIO Console 5 channel strips, how do I route directly from the Analogue inputs to ADAT outputs?

I've tried routing the ADAT inputs from Box #1 to FW sends. I've tried routing the DAW returns to Box #1, and out via ADAT. Nothing seems to work.

Could someone please give me a step-by-step to help me along the way?

It's been a long time since I have thought about v5 (2d).

Basically, what you want to do is connect both boxes via firewire.

Make two busses; one for each box.
Add all the analog and adat inputs to one bus for the box that you will use as the interface
Add all the analog inputs for the satellite box to its own bus.

Set the direct outs for the analog inputs for the satellite bus to be adat out.
Connect the adat out from the satellite to the adat in from on the interface box

Make sure that one box is clocked from the other (otherwise you will get clicks).

Route the Analog and input channels on the interface to the host as desired.

Now you have all 16 analog inputs coming into the computer.

You do a similar configuration for outputs.

You can also configure the satellite using MIOConsole (E.g. Analog -> ADAT, ADAT -> Analog, clocking) and save that as a boot state, and then you can just use the satellite as a standalone converter.

Fantastic, thanks for your help bj.

I'm starting to understand how busses work - that was the bit that was stumping me. I was trying to route everything independently as single channel strips, when I needed to create the busses first as like "groups" of either inputs or outputs on a single box. Now everything is going where it's supposed to, so thanks.
