This is a very peculiar problem I never had before. The setup:
1. iMac Pro, macOS 12.4
2. Reason 12 with JPL Harmonic Synthesizer rack extension, this plugin has an oversampling knob.

The only way this plugin does not distort heavily is when the oversampling is off. In all other cases playing a few notes (of even one note, depending on the patch) causes heavy distortion and sometimes mutes all sound output from the driver until it's reset. The Reason DSP is not overloaded.
When I switch to the factory soundcard, oversampling is ok, distortion appears only when the Reason DSP is overloaded.
Any ideas?

Additional info:
Reason can use hyperthreading for sound rendering and the distortion goes away when it's disabled.
Since there is no distortion with the built-in sound, it looks like the MHLink driver does not support hyperthreading.
