v. 6.3.03 Release Notes

MIOConsole3d v6.3.03 is a free update to the software and firmware for all 3d-based Metric Halo interfaces, and is a recommended update for all users. This version has been tested on macOS Sequoia (macOS 15.x), as well as previous macOS releases.

This is a bug fix release to resolve regressions that occurred in the v6.3.01 release. If you have updated to v6.3.01 or v6.3.02 already, we strongly recommend that you now update to v6.3.03.

This version of MIOConsole + Plugins also adds latency metadata to MIOPlugins to support MHShell and for future integrated Automatic Delay Compensation in MIOConsole.

Mixer / Mixer UI Enhancements

v.6.3 adds support for EQ curve and Dynamics curve visualization in the mixer. This information is collected from all the EQ and Dynamics Plugins inserted on the strip and thus allows you to see the compound effects of multiple Plugins or multiple dynamics processors within a plugin (e.g. ChannelStrip).

These visualizations are accessed from the "Configure Mixer Controls…" popup window available from the mixer hamburger menu:

MIOConsole3d > Preferences > Interaction now has two new prefs:

These preferences automatically have a list of all the Plugins that are enabled for these functions. As more are added over time, they will automatically populate into these lists.

It removes global assignment to the Solo bus when SIP is enabled.

Firmware Enhancements

The converters on the mkIV units support multiple filter types. Since mkIV shipped, It has been using the Low Latency Minimum Phase filter option that provides both low converter latency, and what we found to be the best, most natural sounding conversion.

That being said, the minumum phase filter does introduce in-band phase shift at the high end of the frequency spectrum and as a result provides a larger delta between an original file and a loop record of that file than the mkIII converters did.

The different filters make different engineering tradeoffs and different users can come to different conclusions as to which mode best suits their workflow and the parameters of the conversion that are most important.

This release of MIOConsole3d and associated firmware for the hardware allows you to choose the filter mode used by the mkIV HW (mkIII hardware, 2882 and ULN-2 have fixed filters in the converters and cannot be changed).

We recommend that you give the alternate filters a try and see which one sounds best/works best for you.

Control over the filter types is available from the new “Domain Hardware Configuration” window available from each domain. This window can be shown by right-clicking on the domain status header tile in the system status pane, and selecting “Show Domain Configuration Window” from the popup menu. Each Domain has its own configuration window. The “Domain Hardware Configuration Window” looks like:

If you select multiple units in the the list, then any changes you make to a popup in a selected unit will be applied to all the selected units. This allows you to set all of the units to the same configuration in a minimum of clicks. You can also set each unit’s configuration independently, which may be appropriate for USB configs depending on the hosts connected via USB, and may also be appropriate if you want to compare the different filter modes between two or more boxes in real-time.

The USB Channel configuration and Converter Filter configuration is persistently stored on the unit hardware and will remain as set (even across reboots) until you change it.
