I have 2882+DSP. With all the faders in MIO Console set at unity, the DAW1/2 bus distorts if the signal is hot enough. Just listening to an album in iTunes can cause it if the album is mastered loud. I have to set the DAW bus to -3 or so to prevent overs. Is this normal?

This is common among audio that is mastered to hit 0 dBFS. If this happens often, you could insert a MIO Limiter in the first slot of your bus to make sure there are no overs.
