MIO & MAC can't see my FW devices? [message #85912] Fri, 08 November 2013 18:54 Go to next message

Hello, now this could be a Apple OS issue but neither MIO nor Apple are able to see my Firewire devices anymore. They just don't show up in "System Preferences > Sound" anymore, and nor does the MIO console see them. I have a LIO-8 first in my FW chain, and the 2882 comes after it. The LIO-8 is also sending WordClock to the 2882.

I've double and triple checked the connections and everything is as it should be, though, strangely on the 2882 the FW light is on, but on the LIO-8 it isn't on. I've downloaded and installed the very latest drivers that Metric Halo have made available on their website, but, it's sometime after I installed Mavericks and the new MH software that these units disappeared anyway.

I've run a diagnostic on my Mac Mini (the one you access by pressing and holding the 'D' button on your keyboard after a restart) which says that all its hardware is working ok, so it must be a software issue then?

So weird, anyone else had a similar issue, anyone know of a fix?
F30.

Ok, found a fix, it's all here: (turns out that I can't post links yet, but maybe I'll try posting the link again after I've written the mandatory number of posts)

As I suspected, this is some kind of an OSX error that's not related to the Metric Halo software (of course unless there's something going on with the MH software that the OSX can't handle or whatever). So, as per the instructions in the link above, it appears that a complete power down of my computer and attached units was the ticket.
