Hi Folks,
I have a problem with too low level using digital inputs. I go with my mics (Schoeps cmc622) into my external preamp (Forssell SMP-2) into my external converter (Forssell MADC-2) and finaly into my ULN 2 via AES/EBU.
The Problem: Inspite of I give enough gain for the mics there is just too low level. The envelope in MIO Console is totally small. But when I use the ULN-2 AD-Conversion - the levels are perfect.
What I tried: I thougt it would be a driver problem or a problem with the computer, but it is not. I recorded with an another computer. The same happend. I recorded with different DAW. The same happend. I connected MADC-2 via S/PDIF OUT into my SoundDevices USBPre 2 to check, if there is a problem wiith the AES OUT of the MADC-2. Nothing...
May there is a simple calibration problem, so I contacted Fred Frossell first. He wrote: "There must be a different digital level calibration between the ULN-2 and the MADC-2. The MADC-2 is calibrated for 0 dBu analog input = -18 dBFs digital output. Do you know what your ULN-2 is calibrated for?"
Can anybody help me?
Thomas
