I have a ULN-2 and 2882 connected - all is fine and all controlled via the Console.
I want to add 8 more preamps via ADAT (A Focusrite OctaPre) for drum work - can I just connect it to the ULN and see the extra inputs in the console and route these to Logic Pro X?
Regards
Stephen

Hi Stephen,
You could connect the 8 channels via ADAT to the 2882 directly, and see those input channels in the MIO mixer on the 2882's ADAT input channels. The two ULN-2 analog inputs could pass to the digital output (AES or SPDIF) and connect to the corresponding input on the 2882 - these will show up on the Digital input channels of the mixer for the 2882. This gives you all 18 channels physically available on one box (the 2882), and recordable in Logic.
Best regards,

Looking at this in more detail - I want to use the ULN-2 as the master if possible.
At the moment, I have the ULN and 2882 connected via ADAT in and out. This only seems to work when I have the ADAT Out from the ULN connected as well as the ADAT in.
What I want is-
Octapre>ADAT OUT>2882 ADAT IN>2882ADAT Out>ULN-ADAT IN
Is that possible? I'm not sure why I need ULN ADAT out to ADAT in on the ULN to get signals to appear on the ULN console as I don't want to send ADAT signals out of the ULN to the 2882.
I can see the ADAT output on the 2882 but cannot seem to route it to the ULN ADAT input unless both ADAT IN and OUTs are connected between the ULN/2882.

Quote:Octapre>ADAT OUT>2882 ADAT IN>2882ADAT Out>ULN-ADAT IN
It is not possible to pass both the 2882 ADAT inputs (coming from the Octopre) as well as the 2882's 8 analog channels to the ULN-2 independently over ADAT, as the ADAT will only pass 8 channels as opposed to 16. The ULN-2 is limited to 12 physical input channels (2 analog, 2 AES/SPDIF, and 8 ADAT). The 2882 can support 18 simultaneous physical inputs (8 analog, 8 ADAT, 2 AES/SPDIF). For monitoring purposes it is understandable to want to use the ULN-2 and have it be the box that plays back audio from the computer. You could do this but would need to send a submix of the other channels into the ULN-2. For example, send the Octopre to the 2882 and submix all 16 channels on the 2882, sending the stereo mix to the ULN-2 over ADAT or AES/SPDIF. This just requires that you configure a separate bus for the 2882 (configured with 8 analog and 8 ADAT strips and the main output routed to Digital L/R or ADAT 1/2), as well as a separate bus for the ULN-2 (configured with strips for DAW 1/2, Analog 1, Analog 2 and Digital L/R or ADAT 1/2).
