Hi everybody,
I am just a new user of the forum but I work since a few years with the ULN 8 (and very happy with it).
I use it with 2 different computers : a MB PRO 15" quad core (2014) and a MB air 11 (2013).
I have to consider now buying a new computer and I don't know what to think about usb c.
I don't want to buy the new 3d update because I would need it only for usb-c connection. For the rest, I get all I need.
How does it work if I would have to connect my ULN 8 to a new MB PRO (or MB 12") in usb-c?
What I think is : a cable FW400/FW800 --- FW800 to thunderbolt 2 adapter --- thunderbolt 2 to usb-c adapter
Does it really work?
And does someone use this kind of connection with a Macbook 12"?
(I like to have a very small computer to take everywhere and juste to record, and to have a more powerful one at home for post-production.)
Many thanks for your answers,
Jean-Philippe

This could be a good solution. Just a bit disappointing to pay so much just because Apple change all their connectics to usb-c...
Considering the other option the would be to buy the 3d upgrade of my uln8, I am not sur to understand exactly what will offer the usb-c connection of this new rear panel.
Will it give the real speed of thunderbolt 3 and offer for example less latency etc, or is it just a usb-c connection that will allow to connect it to the new computers like the MB Pro without changing anything to the speed of the interface?
Many thanks for your answers,
Jean-Philippe

Personally i would go for RME. stable, fast , good quality, and one thing RME interfaces do that most other manufacturers don't: they write proper windows drivers - so you can also you use RME interrfaces with a 5.1 speaker setup as a 5.1 setup under windows.
don't know if metric halo does this, but motu for example does not
