I have a 2011 MacBook Pro with USB 2.0 ports and a Firewire 800 port.

I was having sound issues trying to play hi-res files through the USB port.

To utilize the higher speed Firewire port, I am picking up a Firewire to Thunderbolt adapter and a Thunderbolt to USB-C adapter.

Does anyone know if there will be any issues with this set-up? Is there a better alternative?

Thanks for your help.

Please check out pb7 which was just posted; this may solve your USB issues.

FireWire to thunderbolt does not work like that; it is not an option.

If you continue to have problems with USB, you should try using MHLink via the Ethernet port or via a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter.
