Hi, i have a Kemper and my snake is not long enough to connect it via line-in to my LIO so i tried it's SPDIF out. The Kemper however can only work when it's the master clock. When i try to run it at 96 sample rate i get crackling. I can normally run the LIO-8 at even higher sample rates without crackling. Since i'm only monitoring in the MIO panel i guess there is no buffer setting i can adjust for the S/PDIF in ?
What would be the the pros of using the LIO as a master clock (despite the Kemper not being able to do this) and/or disadvantages of clocking the LIO to the Kemper ?
Also another related question: can i use the front panel DI inputs as a 'normal' line input (similar to thedb25 inputs on the back), is there a setting in the MIO where i can switch these inputs or are they always in DI-mode?

The DIs are always in DI mode. That said, they have adjustable gain that can be configured via the jumpers on the DI board. If you take the jumpers off they are basically line inputs. But they share the ADC with the Line in, so the only benefit would be having the TRS connectors.
As as far as the clock goes, if you are going to come in digitally from the kemper, then you should clock the MIO to the Kemper, unless there is a way to clock the kemper from the MIO.
