Hello. Does anyone know what the latency is when bringing in 8 channels via Adat? How many samples? I am getting conflicting info.

Thanks in advance,

FP10

has anyone had any issues with ADAT latency on the 2882?
I ask because i recently did some tracking for a client and he reported back to me that there was some latency on the 8 tracks that i bought in via litepipe. i am trying to determine if the latency was at all contributed to by the 2882, his "import" of these files into his DAW or solely from my external A/D. i dont have these tracks at my place to take a look at, nor do i have my A/D with me at the moment, or i would just record some tracks and try to replicate the problem. just curious if this has been quantified by anyone in the past.

thanks,
FP10

It would be useful to know how much latency you are talking about.

The ADAT adds 2-3 samples of latency, but does not have the converter latency.

So unless your external converter has substantially more latency that the internal converters on the 2882, the total input latency on the input tracks should be similar (maybe a little more or less depending on the external converter, but similar).

So if the client is saying that things are not lined up to the sample, that is probably right unless you time-aligned the system.

If the client is saying that things are off by hundreds or thousands of samples, that cannot be caused by the ADAT.

Best regards,
