Hi guys,

I am new around here but I have been enjoying my LIO-8 for two years now.

There was some talk around the time of my purchase (and since on various forums) that MH was working on drivers for PC/Windows but I have yet to see a release of any.

Does anyone know if these are still under development and if we can expect to see any soon?

Personally, I would have great use for these and would increase the preceived value of my investment.

We have no public statement regarding availability of Windows support for our interfaces at this time.

I'd also like to encourage MH to add Windows support. I run a commercial facility in Sydney, with multiple PT HD rigs.

A year ago we divorced ourselves from Apple, as we no longer felt Apple was focusing on the creative professional market (just our opinion, not trying to start a debate). So we moved everything to Windows which has been both seamless and cost-effective.

Anyway, the PT rigs are coming to the end of their service life, and MH is a serious option. However the lack of Windows support is an issue. I know I'm not the only pro studio owner ditching Apple, so please give it some thought.

I hear people asking this question for 10 + years+.

No Microsoft drivers -never. MH, please don´t mess up with Windowsdriver madness. Just keep on the good work with OSX

Ten years ago I wouldn't have considered removing Apple from my studio, but now I have.

It's actually been great, and I know of several other commercial studios that have done the same. Apple are no longer the obvious choice for creative industries, and with dollars tight, having the choice of computer platform is important. I can't afford to be ideological about my computer platform.

its not about ideology , its about tons of years in Apple driver investment. Technical speaking. I doubt the investment in developing Win drivers would generate a predictable ROI for MH.
However. only MH knows

Yes add windows and linux why not? We use both platforms and with aPCI card we do it at the same time. Yet I wonder why microsoft has support for my xeon Mac Pro and O.S.X. dont. I have great faith in the Metric Halo path and am just adding my voice to a hot button debate. A driver is just a driver and if i use this today or that tomorrow what door to the hellish bloodbath does it really open. ( jusy saying). Keith P. Miller Treadmiller Laughing

If I own a ULN8 and used it with mix buss as an example of a linux D.A.W.My entire investment is greatly improved.In that case I own the O. S. with everyone else (OPEN) and I lease the Metric Halo software. But then we can update C.P.U. and mobo for half the $ . Also windows has better support for Mac Pro than Mac Has the choice is no choice at all. You guys are the very best. And I will put the hardware that is needed to remain with you . But it does seem that this added level of support to an all ready fantastic system. would take you to a level that no one will ever match. Just a thought. Your biggest fan! After refection I will just say it and get my off my chest. I want to use industrial computers just like the real guys. And all of them get to use linux. In the real high end no one gets pushed into limits imposed by release drivin software guys. I am just dum enough to know that the the main two( you know who )is never going to give me freedom. As long as I have there platforms I "as a computer owner"stay unarmed. A prisoner and yes I feel that strong about it. also I hate OSX because they hate letting you get ROI. But I trully despise Mirosoft one way or another with out linux you dont have control over any thing about you investment. LOL Dam and that as I see it is that. Linux or stay at osx for me. I swear to break out of this box one way or another. That is leagal!!! KPM

Well commercial studio owners are MH's customer base.

As many of us are moving to non-Mac platforms (both Windows and Linux), I think their ROI would be guaranteed. Plus they would open themselves up to the home studio market which is overwhelmingly Windows based (80/20 according to Steinberg).

I'm also pretty certain that the driver would not constitute the major aspect of their development costs.

Now I just spent $15K on a competitor's interfaces, simply because MH won't let me use the PC of my choice. Explain to me how that is a good business plan.

I am not "many of us" . 15 k already ready spent on different systmes , ok, fair enough. So whats the problem ?

all the moaning regarding non support of Linux and Win makes perfect sense to me when I update my OSX or update firmware and start my Lio and ULN8 with no issues. Metric Halo was successfull because (!) they avoided to support unstable platforms -so far-. Maybe this will change ? I don´t know. POssibly Metric Halo is not interested in mass markets , so why bothering them ? There are many business plans and different ways how to get lucky - how to achieve selfcontrolled business happiness. Guess MH found its way. I like that business model.
and btw. who is saying that Windows is the most preferred professional platforms, Yamaha ?? Rolling Eyes

Unstable?

As someone who migrated his entire studio from Apple to Windows, I have had no stability issues. I've actually found the PC to be more stable (although this has been hardware rather than software related).

No offence Tompisa, but you do seem motivated by some sort of bizarre corporate loyalty to Apple, judging by your baseless "stability" comments.

Computers are nothing a commodity item, and Macs are not inherently better or worse than Windows machines (just different). I can't fathom corporate loyalty to any company, I just want a product that works.

Mac plus Metric Halo combined made me a fanboy since years - compared to my Win experiences I still prefer OSX , no reason to change. I am on Logic , Cubase and Studio One. Can't get rid of Logic too , you see my backround.

Possibly the win stuff is more stable today. thats ok.

I got no issue with that. OSX is a fine, fine platform, that's certain.

But it isn't the *only* platform, that's also certain. I'm running an all-Windows setup and it certainly hasn't cost me any clients, nor compromised our output/workflow in any way.

I would have very much likely to have gone with MH - I went with HDX instead, which is OK, but I'm not "delighted" about it.

I'm currently building a project/mastering studio in beautiful Safety Harbor FL, and was planning on ordering the Mytek 8x192 along with the Mytek Stereo192 DSD DAC. Then I got turned on to Metric Halo and discovered that their 10,000 sq ft facility moved from NY a few years ago and only 7 blocks away from my home! Literally, right around the corner on from where I live! Talk about support! Laughing

Then I discovered they were OS X and I'm currently running Win 7. I COULD dual boot with OS X, but if they do come out with Win 7 drivers then that would save me a WHOLE lot of time reinstalling all my plugs.

As far as recouping their ROI, I would think they would more than double their sales in a few years down the road once Window drivers are released.

I also heard that there are plans for Windows. When the 3d card comes out, it will be Windows compatible. It was originally supposed to be out by the end of last year, so it could be any time, or it could be a ways out still.

Go with Mytek! LOT better sound than the Orion I hear and Orion users are switching over to the Mytek 8x192.

Also Mytek 8x192 has an ADC upgrade with new capacitors for $400 that take it to the next level. Well worth it end-users are saying.
