I will be doing a gig in Europe (Finland) in a few weeks using my MH 2882 with a (yet to be purchased) Macbook Pro. The gig is at an indoor venue (with power and step down transfomer).
1) I understand from the FAQs that Macbook's cannot initially power up the 2882. Therefore I guess I would need to use the 2882's PSU. Any precautions in that regard using a U.S. model PSU in Europe? Can I just use an adapter or is it better to use a step down transformer? Would you recommend using the PSU only initially and then have the MBP power the 2882 afterward?
2) Is it true that Thunderbolt cannot power the 2882 (even after powering on with the 2882 PSU). If so, I suppose I am going to have to purchase a non-retina MBP with the Firewire 800 port.

You can use the power supply directly on local power with the appropriate cable, as it will work on anything from 100-240v. If you already have the unit plugged in, you may as well leave it plugged in (unless you need to be mobile).

This is true. You could also purchase an external battery pack and run the 2882 from that.
