Hi! Just beginning to learn my new ULN-2. I use it with Pro Tools 10 and Mac Pro OS X 10.8.3.
I expect the clock to lock when choosing "Dig.In" as "Clock Source" and "SPDIF" as "DI-source". I connect the toslink from the Mac Pro to ULN-2 and choose "TOSLINK from "Digital Input". Both Lock ligts are off saying "Unlocked".
I also expect to be able to change the Sample Rate from the Toslink source (Mac Pro). I can't.
There is a valid clock in that Toslink since I can connect it to other gear wich locks just fine.
I can hear the sound when connecting it to ULN-2 and routing it via the Mixer.
Any suggestions? A problem with my Optical input?

Set the Clock Source to ADAT, and in the Digital Input meter section click on the disclosure triangle and select "Toslink".
The DI Source switch toggles between the copper-based SPDIF and AES inputs, and is not used for optical connections.

The ULN-2 will lock to Toslink, and should show DI lock once the clock is set to ADAT. You can change the sample rate from MIO Console or Audio MIDI Setup.

Hi Sonomats,
Actually, the optical SPDIF is a little different than regular (copper) SPDIF.
The Optical SPDIF is run into the SPDFI reciever on the DSP on the 2d Card, and the receiver is run directly into an extremely high-quality SRC. The Optical SPDIF is not available as an external clock source on the MIO; it is always SRC'ed to the box's sync source. If you need the ULN-2 to be sync'ed to the device that is sending the Optical SPDIF, you will need to use word clock or copper SPDIF or AES as the sync source, or you will need to sync the external device to the MIO.
You should not select ADAT or SPDIF as the sync source when using Optical SPDIF as the input -- use Internal or another available (and valid) sync source.
