Trying to optimize the mobile part of the mobile i/o, mostly for carting around to and do overdub sessions in various non-studio settings, and some small 2 mic sessions and location sound. Considering a shallow 2U rack case for my ULN-2. Wondering what other people do. Anyone finding noise problems with the power supply being stored inside a rack - or with other units in the rack with the interface?
2nd shelf space could be for a supply drawer, or maybe one of these Sonnet Mac Mini rack enclosures though that may create noise/heat problems.
I'm pretty happy with the jensen modded inputs on the ULN, especially for line-in stuff, but maybe additional pres before the ULN are a good idea? Using ribbon and dynamic mics on the ULN I'm getting pretty good audio, but have to boost the gain a LOT (54-60 dB), which is probably just what the pres are going to do, but thought I'd put it out there.
Thoughts, ideas welcome.
