I was hoping to get some opinions and advice on my small studio setup; I've got an axe fx that I'd like to use to record, while listening via the studio monitors. If at all possible, I'd like to avoid having to pull everything out, switch the monitor cables, record, switch back, etc... (maybe I'm being lazy, but I think there's a better workflow I'm missing.)
I was thinking I could use the USB out on the AXE fx to record wet and dry signals, and route the DAW audio through the ULN-8 for monitoring/playback. I haven't tried it yet, but here's my question; Would this be adding a step in the AD/DA process, and unnecessary latency? Do you think I'd be better off with something like a monitor switcher
I'd obviously like to avoid more hardware and moving parts if possible.
Also, I'm curious about whether or not I'd be able to have the computer powered down, plug the AFX into the line inputs on the ULN, and route audio through the monitors (I think I'm going to have to RTFM on that one, but if anyone has a quick tip there, it'd be appreciated.)
