I'm very new to audio recording...... I have a ULN-2 and would love to take advantage of the Halo-Verb and a few other offerings. However, I have been unable to get Halo verb to stick to a recording inside my DAW (Reaper) that I can export or render. I'm sure it is a routing issue I don't seem to comprehend, even though I've watched the tutorials and asked a few guys.

I've put the direct outs at the bottom on the channel, I can hear the Halo-Verb but when I render there is no reverb on the finished product. I use the "basic set-up" in the templates. I hoping someone can help provide a solution to my problem...... I'm dying to use the stuff in the production bundle.

Another question: I'm on the verge of getting either a ULN-8 or a LIO-+4. Is there any difference in the sound quality between the two? If there is not I'm opting for the LIO- +4.

Thanks,

Michael

I would like to record dry, then later add the Hal-verb etc. How do I do that?

Nobody can help me? I realize this is probably a basic thing, but for someone like me trying to understand it, it is mystifying.

When you say render, do you mean off-line bounce? If that's what you mean than none of the processing that you do in the MIO will be recorded.

In order to record the processing in the MIO, you have to route the final mix (in the MIO) back to the computer - e.g. set the direct out of the Master Fader to a pair of FireWire returns, and then record enable a track with those firewire returns in your host (reaper in this case). Then you record those inputs while you have the daw playing back; the daw will now have a recording of the final mix with the processing that you have applied in the MIO mixer.

If that's not what you are going for, please describe what you want to do in more detail, or open a support ticket at http://mhsecure.com/support to get one on one help.

Thanks BJ for getting back to me. Yes, that is what I want to do. I think I had the correct routing but didn't hit record enable. I'll give it a try and see what happens, if I have further questions I'll open a support ticket! You guys are great.

I do have another question if I may. I've read every thing I can on comparing the ULN-8 with other units, mostly on Gearsluts. I just bought a pair of Schoeps and want to get the most out of them so I'm considering the ULN-8 or LIO-4. I record only classical guitar. My question is, would the step up to a ULN-8 from the ULN-2 be an obvious improvement? I know the specs are better etc. but is the difference going to be like "Whoa" or will I be splitting hairs?

In feedback we have seen over the years, most if not all users who have made the jump say yes, the ULN-8 is an audible and substantial advance overall, especially in the classical world.
