Hi everybody,

I am working with ProTools 10 with a 2882. I use The 4 preamps (FW 1/2/3/4), on the other 4 inputs (FW 5/6/7/8) I use API preamps. On the adat in (FW 9 - 16) is my Crane Song Spider plugged. SPDIF (FW 17/18à is unused because I don't have a convertor.

On the MIO console everything is rooted direct to the master. The system is working great!

My partner uses the ULN-8.
We have the idea to put our gear together to make recordings on location.

We plugged a cable in ULN8 WC out to 2882 WC in. also we plugged the firewirecable from the ULN8 to the 2882. Immediately we can see the ULN8 in my setup. Als we see the 8 preamps.

2 problems: 1. we can't root to the master
2. FW connection only goes to FW18. We need FW19 to FW26 witch is no problem in the ProTools I/O setup.

In attachment my MIO setup for the 2882.

Anybody there who can help us?

Would be a great system Smile

Greetings,

DUKE

For problem (1):

The mixer on each box is independent. So if you want to get a mix with the inputs from both boxes, you need to tie them together with one of the audio I/Os. Since you are not using the AES I/O, that's the way to do it - connect AES from the Second box (I guess the ULN-8 in this case) to the first box. Make a new mix buss, and connect the inputs for the second box to it. Send the output of the mix bus to AES. Add an AUX for the first mix bus and set its input to AES. Now you will mix the submix from the second box into the mix on the first box, and that will let you monitor all the inputs.

For problem (2):

You will need to create an aggregate device of the two boxes and use that as the interface in Pro Tools. That will get you access to the inputs from the second box.

If you need further help, please open a support ticket.
