Hello there,
I'm currently using a 17" Macbook Pro that in spite of it's 5 years of age works to my full satisfaction. In particular, the FW bus power is high enough to power my MH 2882 interface. The computer has a known issue with it's graphic card so I'm sure that within the next 6 month my machine will die. Thunderbolt-to-FW adapters supply only up to 7W of bus power and from what I found on this forum it is not enough to power the device.
My question is, does anybody have a work-around to 'battery' power the MH interface on the newer Macbook Pros? Any advice is highly appreciated.

Jurgen

You need a pretty old MacBookPro to have enough bus power to power the MIO. Apple continuously dropped the power they were providing; the MIOs used all of the power that the original implementation provided. So, basically, with modern computers, while the MIO is still DC power able (e.g. with a battery pack), you cannot power them with the computer, as the computer does not provide enough power.
