Hi MH people,

I'm curious about what kind of protocol is using the MH Link.
Is it based on a PTP Network?
Could it be AES67 compatible in a far future?

Thanks for your lights

Could someone point me to instructions for MH Link for connecting two 2882s via ethernet? Is connecting boxes via USB available yet?

Hi there,
I'm disappointed about all these MHlink questions without any answer or explanation...
Impossible to find detailed documentation on ethernet connection.
All I know is that I can connect directly my 2882 through my computer ethernet port, but if I want to use a gigabyte switch how can I set up my Network, change IP adress of my 2882?
In DHCP mode it works fine with default network address (APIPA), but how can I do if I need to manage my network addresses?
Found nothing in MIO console menu or MH website.

It's frustrating to have such a powerful tool without any technical documentation...

Connect the first box to the computer via MHLink. Connect the second box to the first box via MHLink (daisy chain). Rinse, lather repeat for more boxes.

Yes; it has been available from the beginning for one box. For two or more boxes you will need an Ethernet connection to configure the routing but you can still use USB for audio streaming (either with or without MHLink-based computer streaming ).

Sorry, I missed this thread.

MHLink is a proprietary L2 protocol. It does not use PTP. AES67 is a possibility for the future, but we don't have any interop with AES67 implemented at the present time.

There is documentation available from the software download page, e.g.:

https://mhsecure.com/3d_Early_Access/3dQuickStart_pb9.html

This documentation describes the basics of using the devices. We have more complete documentation that we are in the process of finishing up and will be posting as soon as it is ready.

MHLink is a Layer 2 protocol; it doesn't use IP addresses. So the answer is - you don't need to worry about the network address of the 2882.

Just connect your computer, your router and your 2882 to the GigE switch and it will all work (assuming the switch doesn't drop packets).

It is important to note that only one copy of MIOConsole3d can talk to a MIO at a time; so if you put your 2882 on your LAN, you need to make sure that you are only running one instance of MIOConsole3d on the LAN, otherwise it is likely the the HW will get confused and may require a reboot.

THANK YOU !
Cool
Finger crossed for AES67 in the future...
Connection with Ravenna or Dante interfaces would be amazing

Just popping in to +1 AES67/Dante support, and to say thank you for all the great work!
