Maybe I don't understand, but pls check my connectivity map:

I need to connect 32 in/outs from the stage at the same time with up to 8 in/outs from the studio to one Mac via 1 thunderbolt input. (ideally using 1 TB, but if not, then it is possible using 2 TBs)

Stage coming from SSL Sigma Delta (32 in/out) and connecting to Antelope Orion 32+ (8 D-Sub connectors (4in/4out))
Mic and some synth connecting to Metric Halo 2882 > Antelope Orion 32+ (via ADAT) (2 ADAT connectors (1in/1out))
Antelope Orion 32+ connecting to Mac via Thunderbolt.
Studio monitors receive audio from MH 2882 (Mac (TB) > Orion (ADAT) > MH 2882 (TRS outs) > Monitors)

So the question is whether this will all work this way and how much better is to connect the MH 2882 directly to the computer.

P.S.: Sry of my Eng. I will be grateful for any comment.

What you describe should work fine.

You will need to set up the routing for the 2882 using the computer.

If this is 2d, and you want to have the routing stay in place without a computer attached to the 2882 through power cycles, you will have to save your configuration as a boot state.

If this is 3d, we don't have boot-states implemented yet, so you will need to establish the routing and keep the 2882 running (with no power cycle) if you want to not have to have the computer attached.

If you need to change gains or anything like that, you'll need to attach the 2882 to the computer as there is no way to adjust gains on the 2882 without a computer connection.

But if you just need to have the 2882 function as a converter, set a boot-state and you are good to go.

Bj, thank you for your answer!

Are you planning to add this functionality (saving boot state configuration) to 3d in the future?
