I see people asking many of the same questions that I have but I do not see any responses.

I have one of the very first 2882's and UNL2's that were shipped. I have not touched them in about 10 years and I am wondering if they will still work with a new Apple computer that has a thunderbolt 3 interface? If so, how would I connect them to the old Firewire 400 interface?

Thanks.

You have two choices:

1) If you are on macOS 10.14.x or older (e.g. not Catalina 10.15) you can get an Apple Thunderbolt to FW800 adapter (or a TB dock) to add Firewire to your modern Mac. Then you just need a FW800 to FW400 cable for the connection to the first MIO (these are readily available, or you can order one from us).

2) If you are on 10.15 (or intend to move to 10.15 soon) or you just want to update your MIOs and move away from FireWire, you can upgrade both units to 3d (see link below for more info). This is the better option as it will provide many years of ongoing compatibility, it makes using the two boxes together much easier, and it brings a whole host of other benefits as well.

Hope this helps!
