power up problems with ULN-2 [message #86458]

I just recently bought a used ULN-2 2d, so I'm new to Metric Halo. I love the sound, the converters (!), and the MIO console. However, I'm having a problem getting the device to power up. I'm going into a late 2012 Mac Mini (and into pro tools) with firewire. However, when the firewire is attached, after I put the computer to sleep and switch off the a/c adapter, when the computer comes on again, I get no blinking light from the firewire, and when I plug in the adapter, nothing comes on. To start it, I have to disconnect the firewire, undo the a/c connection, then reconnect the FW (which gives me the blinking light), then plug in the power source again.

I get an idea, and I want to switch on the DAW and start recording, but this is quite a bit of work to go through (with my old Digi-002, all I had to do was press the power button). Am I doing something wrong?
